 I initially started this business because of my own grandmother, and because of my own life experiences. While living in Alberta and returning to Newfoundland to visit my family; I was saddened to know my elderly grandmother had been in hospital for quite some time. She would cry every time I would visit her. She talked about feeling alone, uncomfortable and just wanted to be in her own home. She disclosed that she felt her wants needs and desires were not being heard, even by her own children. I decided that day to make a list with her, asking her to list what was important to her, it was a reasonable list. I took into account what she wanted, not what her children thought was best for her, she still had her mobility and keen mind. So, I made an appointment with the hospital social worker and we began a plan for her to go home with supports in place. She was so happy! I can not express the gratitude I felt that day forward.
